The roster fallout in Lubbock continues on Monday as the Red Raiders are losing players left and right, the latest in the form of freshman forward Robert Jennings.

Jennings, who appeared in 30 games during the 2022-23 season, averaged just 2.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game as a freshman but is seen as a promising young athlete that could grow into a star.

In just under nine minutes per game, Jennings didn’t play a ton this season as far as minutes go, but will be someone that Texas Tech would miss if he does decide to leave Lubbock.

The freshman announced his intentions on Twitter Monday, stating that a return to Texas Tech was a possibility.

“I would like to thank the Texas Tech basketball stall staff for allowing me an opportunity to play at Texas Tech University this year and helping me improve as a player on and off the court,” he wrote in a graphic posted to Twitter. ”I would also like to thank my teammates for the bond that we have created as well as the fans and the city of Lubbock for all the love and passion you guys have had for me since Day one.”

Jennings joins G Elijah Fisher and C Fardaws Aimaq as Red Raiders in the portal following Mark Adams’ resignation following his suspension for “racially insensitive comments” towards his team.
