Watch: No. 14 Furman Upsets No. 3 Virginia on Late Three-Pointer in NCAA Tournament

March Madness is in full swing and it didn’t take long for the NCAA Tournament to live up to its nickname. In the second game of the day, No. 3 Virginia was upset by No. 14 Furman in a 68-67 loss.
UVA was trapped in the corner and a half-court heave landed in the hands of Furman down by two points and then JP Pegues hit the go-ahead three pointer with 2.2 seconds left.
Here’s the video.
Virginia has had a wild five-year run in the NCAA Tournament. In 2018, UVA became the first No. 1 seed to ever lost to a No. 16 seed in UMBC. The next year, Tony Bennett’s team won the NCAA Tournament, beating Texas Tech in the finals. Now, they’ve lost as a No. 3 seed to a No. 14 seed.
The win marks Furman’s first in the NCAA Tournament since 1974 as the Paladins are making their first appearance in the Big Dance since 1980. Furman will play either No. 5 seed San Diego State or No. 12 seed Charleston in the second round on Saturday.
