Bijan Robinson Links Up with Scottie Scheffler after Dell Match Play Victory

Scottie Scheffler took down J.T. Poston in the Round of 16 knockout stage of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play Saturday afternoon in Austin, and he had some special company there to greet him afterwards. Fellow former Texas Longhorn and running back Bijan Robinson joined up with Scheffler just following the victory.
It’s obviously always cool when stars from the same school link up at an event like this. And doing so back where they had so much success collegiately even makes it that much more special.
As for the performance, Scheffler trailed during the back nine, but began his comeback on the par-4, 15th. He cut the deficit to one with a birdie there, then logged a birdie on the 16th as well, staying one back when Poston equaled it.
After Poston posted a par, Scheffler came up clutch. He stuck his iron shot within 10 feet of the hole, then knocked down a third consecutive birdie for the equalizer. On the 18th, Scheffler put home a par, and Poston missed his par putt to send Scheffler on.
“I’ve done a great job over the years in this tournament of staying patient and not trying to force things,” Scheffler told Golf Digest afterwards. “I got down, and J.T. is such a fantastic player and putter that he put the pressure on me today and I let it get the best of me, but I was able to finish strong and come out on top.”
Now it’s on to a battle with Jason Day for a spot in the semifinals.
