Oklahoma P Jordy Bahl on Atmosphere: ‘Literally Once In A Lifetime’

The Red River Rivalry is one of the biggest games of the year, so anytime the Longhorns and Sooners clash on the softball field, especially with both teams in the top 10 in the nation, it’s something special.

Oklahoma Sooners pitcher Jordy Bahl was asked her thoughts about the record-setting atmosphere following Friday night’s game and spoke highly about the nearly 9,000 fans who came out to support OU, which was played at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City, Okla, instead of in Norman.

The incredible portion of Bahl’s quote is her honesty about the magnitude of the game in the bigger picture of softball. The Red River Rivalry had an NCAA record 8,930 fans for the matchup between Mike White and Patty Gasso’s squads.

Bahl and the Sooners ended up taking the win 8-1 in front of the massive crowd in Oklahoma City before Saturday and Sunday’s games, which will be played back in Norman.

The Sooners and Longhorns will play each other on Saturday and Sunday, with both games set to be broadcast in front of a national audience on ESPN2.
