Oklahoma’s Tiare Jennings Named National Player of the Week

Oklahoma junior second baseman has been named the NFCA Player of the Week after her standout performance in the Sooners’ three-game sweep of No. 8 Texas.
According to an Oklahoma press release, Jennings batted .727 on the weekend with two home runs, eight RBIs, and a double, culminating in a 1.364 slugging percentage.
A two-time unanimous All-American, Jennings registered her first four-hit game of 2023 and the fifth of her career in Sunday’s run-rule win over the Longhorns, finishing a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs.
In Friday’s 8-1 win at Hall of Fame Stadium, in front of a record-breaking crowd, Jennings went 3-for-4 with a home run, double, and four RBIs. In the field, the second baseman helped turn two double plays and was errorless on the weekend, with seven putouts and eight assists.
Jennings and the Sooners are set to host Texas Tech this weekend, a team that has improved dramatically from last season and will be looking to pull off a major upset. In order to do so, the Red Raiders will have to keep No. 23 from taking the series over, as she has done so many times since arriving in Norman.
