West Virginia G Erik Stevenson Enters NBA Draft
While this comes as no shock for fans, West Virginia’s senior guard Erik Stevenson took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to announce his decision to enter the NBA draft.
Stevenson is out of college eligibility so the move to the NBA was expected but fans at least now have confirmation. Stevenson quickly became a fan favorite in Morgantown as his talent helped lead the Mountaineers to the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
Stevenson sent out a heartfelt message to fans, coaches, teammates, and everyone else that influenced him on his journey toward the NBA. Stevenson had a tremendous statistical season for the Mountaineers last year putting up 15.4 PPG, 3.4 RPG, and 2.5 APG in the Mountaineers’ up-and-down season.
While the decision is pretty routine for a college player out of eligibility, Stevenson found a home in Morgantown after playing for Wichita State, Washington, and South Carolina. The four-year player found a way to play for four different programs before settling in the Big 12 Conference where he shined.
The NBA Draft kicks off on June 23rd, and while Stevenson was only able to spend one year with the Mountaineers, his impact will not be forgotten any time soon.
