Oklahoma Guard Jacob Groves Takes To Transfer Portal

Jacob Groves is the latest Oklahoma Sooner to enter the transfer portal. According to a report by On3’s Jamie Shaw, the senior guard has elected to do so Wednesday.

Groves makes for now six players on the roster who have hit the portal. That also includes guards Joe Bamisile, Bijan Cortes, CJ Noland and Benny Schroder, and forward Jalen Hill.

As for Groves, he averaged 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game, while appearing in all 32 contests and starting 22 of them. He recorded nine double-digit games. One of those was a career-best outing with 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting, including four 3-pointers.

 

Additionally, guard Grant Sherfield announced his intentions to enter the 2023 NBA Draft earlier in the day.

To the OU staff, Norman community and Sooner Nation, thank you for the warm embrace and support. I’m proud to say, I’m a Sooner for life!

“To my brothers/teammates, we didn’t fulfill our season goals, but we played hard and left everything on the court! There is growth and love in our shared journey.

“After discussions with my family and coaches, I have decided to declare for the 2023 NBA Draft.”

These the rest of the Oklahoma squad finished the just concluded season at 15-17. That featured a 5-13 mark in Big 12 play.
