No. 1 2024 LB Sammy Brown on OU Visit: ‘Oklahoma Has the Best Fans in College Football’

NCAA Football: Baylor at Oklahoma

Five-star linebacker Sammy Brown is one of the top 2024 defensive recruits in the nation according to almost every recruiting site that you look at.

According to On3, Brown is the No. 1 linebacker in the 2024 class and the No. 18 overall player in the cycle.

The 6-2, 225 pound athlete out of Jefferson, Georgia recently took a visit to Oklahoma, where he spent a lot of time with one of the best linebacker coaches to ever do it, Sooners head coach Brent Venables.

Brown had rave reviews for the Sooners after leaving campus, and gushed about the fan base as well, saying, “Oklahoma has the best fans in college football,” according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Brown previously spoke at length with On3’s Chad Simmons on March 3, and gushed about the job that Brent Venables is doing in Norman ahead of his visit.

“I think a lot of what coach (Brent) Venables has done at Oklahoma has been very similar to what coach Swinney’s done at Clemson,” Brown said. “He’s done a very good job out there developing it and really bringing it into a very family-oriented and relationship-built football team. He’s done a great job of really getting the players to buy into that.

“It’s a very historic program. Oklahoma’s always been a contender for a national title and I think he’s doing a really great job of building back up to that. They’ve had some very good linebackers in the past.”

Oklahoma is in the mix to land Brown, but has some ground to make up with Georgia and Clemson leading the pack at this time. The good news for OU is, Brent Venables is in Norman now, and that bodes well for their chances.
