Four Big 12 Teams Interested in Penn State Transfer Kebba Njie

While the transfer portal is an excellent opportunity for players to find a new home, in some cases, it becomes an absolute battle to land a player. This is the case for Penn State transfer forward Kebba Njie.

Njie was a key contributor for the Nittany Lions in the 2022-23 season, helping lead them to an NCAA Tournament bid as an eighth seed and winning their first tournament game against Texas A&M.

According to CBS SportsJon Rothstein, there are eight teams pursuing Njie in the transfer portal, four of which are members of the Big 12 Conference.

The four Big 12 teams going after Njie are the Texas Longhorns, the Texas Tech Red Raiders, the BYU Cougars and the UCF Knights. Njie would be a great get for any of these four teams, even though he only averaged 3.4 points and 3.5 rebounds for the Nittany Lions as a freshman. His 6-foot-10 frame would be a good fit. He was also an ESPN Top 100 recruit before signing with PSU.

In the event that BYU or UCF become the home destination for the Njie, these two new Big 12 programs would land a player with a lot of promise, but would also steal him from a Texas team that is coming off an Elite Eight appearance.

Texas Tech, meanwhile, is rebuilding under coach Grant McCasland and just saw its tallest players, Fardaws Aimaq and Daniel Batcho, head for the transfer portal.

Njie is also considering Indiana, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Nevada. Whether he ends up playing in the best conference in basketball or not, he will be a big addition in the transfer portal for whichever team he suits up for.
