Moussa Cisse to Enter Transfer Portal: Report

A member of the Oklahoma State Cowboys is headed elsewhere. According to a report by The Oklahoman’s Jacob Unruh, center Moussa Cisse will enter the transfer portal.
With that, Cisse becomes the third Cowboy to take his talents to the portal. He joins fellow big Kalib Boone and guard Avery Anderson III, who have previously done so. Forward Tyreek Smith is yet to make a decision on his future.
Cisse, a menace inside, averaged 1.9 blocks per game over his two seasons in Stillwater, leading the Big 12 in that regard. His anchor inside propelled the Cowboys to the nation’s No. 12 ranking in adjusted defensive efficiency, per KenPom, and an even better No. 4 mark the year before.
Meanwhile, that’s to go along with 6.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game he averaged during the just concluded 2022-23 campaign.
Cisse’s production is almost more impressive when you consider he battled through an ankle injury at times.
Of course, Cisse’s exit makes it all the more crucial that head coach Mike Boynton and the program find some help on the interior, where McDonald’s All-American Brandon Garrison is coming in to boost.
“But there will still be a learning curve,” Boynton said last month, via The Oklahoman. “There will be an older big guy here. I don’t know who. Maybe one of the guys comes back or maybe somebody recruited out of the portal that will be pushing him around for a couple weeks in June and July, and that’s OK.
“Then hopefully by the time November, December rolls around here, he’ll be ready to take those blows and deliver some back.”
He’ll certainly need some others around him, however. And that’s especially the case now.
