Four Big 12 Teams Among Latest D1Baseball Top 25 Poll

Another week of Big 12 baseball is behind us, which means it’s time to sort out the events of another rollercoaster weekend.

Oklahoma State dropped its first Big 12 series to TCU, while Texas took two of three from K-State and Texas Tech mostly took care of business against North Dakota State.

The Cowboys, Longhorns, Red Raiders, and Horned Frogs have emerged as the top four teams in the conference, and are also listed among the nation’s best teams.

On Monday, D1Baseball released its latest Top 25, and all four of the above teams made the cut.

Oklahoma State leads the way in the Big 12 at No. 18 in this week’s poll, down two spots from No. 16 last week. The Cowboys went 1-3 last week, with two losses to TCU and another to Wichita State.

Right behind them at No. 19 is Texas, who is off to a hot start in Big 12 play with a 6-3 record in conference play, good enough for first place at this point in time. The Longhorns will have a chance to build on that lead with a road series at Baylor this week.

Up one spot this week is No. 21 Texas Tech, who took two of three against North Dakota State on Easter weekend. The Red Raiders will now hit the road for a two-game series against Stanford before heading to Norman to take on Oklahoma this weekend.

Finally, TCU has rejoined the rankings after its series win over Oklahoma State, coming in at No. 25 this week. The Horned Frogs have the week off in Big 12 play, hosting UNC Wilmington before heading to Morgantown to take on West Virginia. The Mountaineers fell out of the Top 25 after a 2-2 week, including a series loss to Kansas.
