Iowa State Lands Wofford Guard Jackson Paveletzke

NCAA Basketball: Big 12 Basketball Tipoff

The Iowa State Cyclones made a big splash in the transfer portal by bringing in Wofford star guard Jackson Paveletzke.

Iowa State finished off the season in need of some depth at the guard position following departures from Gabe Kalsheur running out of eligibility, and Caleb Grill getting dismissed from the team and then entering the transfer portal.

Paveletzke played significant minutes in his time at Wofford and was the highlight of the team’s backcourt. In the 2022-2023 season, Paveletzke averaged 15.1 PPG, 2.7 RPG, and 3.7 APG.

The best game of the season for the young guard came against Furman on January 22nd where he scored 25 points against an NCAA Tournament team that upset Virginia. Paveletzke added six assists and two rebounds in the game against Furman showing off his versatility by getting others involved as well as scoring.

While having Paveletzke in Ames is already an amazing feat, the best aspect of the transfer guard is his age. Paveletzke is only a freshman and with last year being his first year of collegiate basketball, he has a number of years left to grow under T.J. Otzelberger.

The new addition to the Cyclones should come in and immediately provide a talented player to lead Iowa State’s offense in the talented Big 12 Conference.
