Watch: Brad Paisley Sings ‘Country Roads’ in Ukraine

The sound of “Country Roads” to West Virginia fans typically signifies a big-time win in Milan Puskar Stadium, but to others, it might mean something much different.
West Virginia superfan Brad Paisley has seen his fair share of victories for the Mountaineers, and he’s surely sung his fair share of “Country Roads” as well, but probably not many felt like this one.
On Wednesday, video of Paisley singing the world-renowned tune in the streets of Kyiv, Ukraine made their way around the internet, sparking all kinds of reactions from viewers.
Just over a year ago, Russia invaded Ukraine and sparked a major escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War, which officially began on February 20, 2014.
Paisley serves as a global ambassador for UNITED24, a Ukrainian fundraising platform established in May of 2022.
The three-time Grammy Award winner is doing his part to help put smiles on the faces of people in need, and is also seeing the effects of the war-torn country firsthand.
“It’s an emotional experience seeing all of this firsthand,” Paisley said during a press conference. “For me, looking around this city and being here for the first time, I’m absolutely struck by the resilience of life and the beautiful nature of the way this city is trying to thrive in the middle of conflict.”
