Four-Star RB Gideon Davidson Includes Iowa State in Top 10

NCAA Football: Iowa State at West Virginia

One of the nation’s best players in the 2025 class has included Iowa State in his Top 10. Four-star running back Gideon Davidson, out of Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg, Va., announced his latest cut Friday, and the Cyclones made it.

The others include Clemson, Colorado, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee and USC.

Davidson, who stands in at 6-foot, 193 pounds, is the nation’s No. 38 overall prospect, No. 3 running back and No. 2 player in the state of Virginia, with a 0.9776 rating, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. Per 247Sports, he’s the country’s No. 19 overall prospect, No. 1 running back and top-ranked player in the state of Virginia, with a 90 rating.

With all that, he already holds 18 total offers.

“Has verified size with frame to continue to add mass,” wrote 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn in his evaluation of Davidson. “Has multi-sport profile with strong build. Speed markers include 10.69 in 100 meters and 20-7 long jump. Has two-way snaps as safety. Big production with 1,241 yards and 19 touchdowns while averaging more than 11 yards per carry as freshman. Pace of play popped during in-person evaluation. Patient runner with vision and knows how to set up blocks. Quick feet with stop-start ability. Accelerates well through the hole. Has speed to finish runs. Best suited to run between tackles.

“Body control to make subtle cuts at second level. Difficult to arm tackle. Shows cut-back ability. instinctual runner can make defenders miss in hole. Solid pass catcher who lines up wide. True between-the-tackles runner who has speed but is not asked to run outside of tackle box often. Has to continue to work on running with slightly lower pad level. Continued development as a pass catcher will make him more dynamic. Adding strength will make him more physical runner. Can be early contributor in high-level college program. Has NFL potential.”

Dohn labels the impressive back as a Power-5 starter from day one. Davidson obviously has a lot of time before he makes an official decision, but he’s at least narrowed it down some more.
