Jesse Edwards Names Kansas, West Virginia in Top 3: Report

Syracuse Athletics

A pair of Big 12 squads are among former Syracuse center Jesse Edwards’ final three as he seeks a transfer destination. He’s down to Kansas and West Virginia, in addition to Gonzaga, according to a report by On3’s Joe Tipton.

Additionally, Edwards is set to visit West Virginia this weekend, his father confirmed to Syracuse.com.

From the Netherlands, Edwards entered the transfer portal earlier this week reportedly after the Orange was unable to provide him an NIL opportunity because of governmental issues, given the fact he’s an international student. That immediately had a number of schools interested in him, also including the likes of Arkansas, BYU, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas State, LSU, Memphis, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina State, Seton Hall and Vanderbilt.

The 6-foot-11 big really elevated his game over the past couple seasons. That included his averaging a double-double of 14.5 points and 10.3 rebounds, to go along with an ACC-leading 2.9 blocks per game this past season. The year before in 2021-22, he notched 12.0 points, 6.5 boards and 2.8 blocks per contest.

Prior to that, Edwards saw only limited playing time in his first two campaigns with the Orange. But he settled in and took it to an entirely different level by the time he turned into an upperclassman.

At whichever school he chooses, Edwards will have one more year of eligibility.
