Kansas Kicker Jacob Borcila Enters Transfer Portal: Report

NCAA Football: Texas at Kansas

Kansas Jayhawks kicker Jacob Borcila has entered the transfer portal, according to a report by KU247’s Michael Swain.

Borcila has been the regular kicker for three years for the Jayhawks, so this is notable. That includes last fall when he went 7-of-13 (53.8) on field goals and a perfect 48-of-48 on extra points.

In fact, he’s only missed one extra point throughout his career. That’s while going 26-of-27 the previous season and 11-for-11 over his first two in Lawrence.

During the 2021 campaign, Borcila connected on 9-of-15 field goal attempts for 60%. One of those connections was a career-long 50-yarder.

His first season of kicking regularly in 2020, Borcila booted through 6-of-9 tries. His missed his only attempt as a true freshman in 2019.

The Westerville, Ohio, native played in 32 games throughout his career, including 23 over the past two seasons. He was an Academic All-Big 12 Football First Team selection in 2021 and Academic All-Big 12 Football Second Team selection the year before.

He’ll have one more year of eligibility at whichever school he chooses, should he continue through with the transfer.

Borcila potentially leaves behind a Kansas program that just made its first bowl appearance since 2008. It lost 55-53 to Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl, capping off a 6-7 season.
