BC Wide Receiver Zay Flowers Working Out with Patrick Mahomes: Report

At the request of the Kansas City Chiefs, Boston College wide receiver Zay Flowers is working out with two-time Super Bowl Champion quarterback Patrick Mahomes Wednesday in Texas, according to a report by ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Flowers seemed to think his pre-NFL Draft process was complete after visiting with the Tennessee Titans a day earlier, but the Chiefs called and wanted him to meet up with Mahomes, Schefter reports. He’s the No. 10 overall prospect on Mel Kiper’s big board.
The 5-foot-9, 182-pound pass catcher out of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., set career-highs with 78 catches for 1,077 yards while notching 12 touchdowns, which tied for fifth in the FBS. Flowers finished his career with more than 3,000 receiving yards and 29 scores on 200 receptions. He managed that production while participating in 48 total games for the Eagles.
“Slot target who plays with unbridled energy and immense confidence,” wrote NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein in his evaluation, as he compared the wide out to Travis Benjamin. “Flowers is slightly built but can side-step press and fly into action with above-average acceleration and an attacking demeanor. Flowers has a tendency to rush his routes, but his ability to play with speed and move with athleticism makes him hard to read for defenders. His ball skills will shine brightly at times, but frustrating drops come with the package. Flowers has the skill set to become a valuable playmaker as a pro.”
Flowers will certainly hear his name called in next week’s NFL Draft. And now it’s more and more interesting just where that might be, based on this latest information.
