Oklahoma State’s Tyreek Smith to Enter Transfer Portal: Reports

Mike Boynton is losing a fifth member to the transfer portal from his 2022-23 roster. Oklahoma State Cowboys forward Tyreek Smith has decided to make the move Wednesday, according to reports by both the Stillwater News Press and GoPokes247.

Smith joins a previous quartet who have also done so. Those include guards Avery Anderson III and Woody Newton, forward Kalib Boone and center Moussa Cisse.

The 6-foot-9, 217-pound big played a pair of seasons for the Pokes, averaging 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 61.4% from the field. He also blocked a total of 53 shots.

His contributions this past season included 5.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest, as he hit 59.7% of his field goals and 63.4% from the free throw line. Smith blocked 34 blocks in addition to recording 16 steals during the campaign.

He’ll have two years of remaining eligibility at whichever school he chooses.


Smith began his collegiate career at Texas Tech, coming out of Cedar Hill (Texas) Trinity Christian School. There, he was the nation’s No. 142 overall prospect, No. 22 power forward and No. 14 player in the Lone Star State, with a three-star and 0.9313 rating, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. Per 247Sports, he was the country’s No. 165 overall player, No. 25 power forward and No. 16 player in the Lone Star State, with a three-star and 89 rating.
