Four-Star Safety Jaydan Hardy Commits to Oklahoma

NCAA Football: Oklahoma Spring Game

Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners have picked up a verbal commitment from four-star safety Jaydan Hardy, this according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Out of Lewisville (Texas) HS, Hardy chose the Sooners primarily over major suitors Oregon and Texas A&M, among others.

“Oklahoma has always recruited me the hardest since my freshman year even when they had coach Lincoln Riley so the adjustment to Coach V wasn’t hard at all,” Hardy told Fawcett. “I had already been on campus countless of times and seeing many of my bros committing to Oklahoma and trying to build something together has really stuck on me. I’m big on brotherhood and trust in the people that will make me a better man on and off the field. OU makes that vision clearer for me than any other school.”

Per On3, Hardy stands in as the No. 168 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that combines all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 14 safety and the No. 33 player in the Lone Star State.

He went on to speak about his relationship with future position coach Jay Valai, which clearly played a major factor.

“Coach Valai is my strong connection at OU,” he told Fawcett. He has recruited hard ever since my freshman year when he was at bama and always told me i would play for him one day. My relationship with coach Hall has just begun but has come so far in such little time I feel he can develop me to get ready for the league. He’s all about winning just like me so we have the competitive nature that bonds us together.”

Hardy is the Sooners’ fifth verbal commitment for the 2024 class. The group stands 17th nationally.
