Colorado Football Spring Game Viewership Blows Out 2022 USC Spring Game

While the majority of conversations about the Colorado Buffaloes have been about the alarming amount of players entering the transfer portal following their 2023 spring game, the numbers alone put into perspective just how influential new head coach Deion Sanders is.

Deion Sanders and the Buffs have a viral video circling showing the difference between the 2022 spring game and the 2023 game which highlights the full crowd of fans at the event cheering on their team but the ESPN streaming numbers took precedence over everything else.

Colorado’s spring game aired on ESPN on Saturday and had a whopping 551,000 viewers according to Stewart Mandel of The Athletic which topped previous highly anticipated spring games from new coaching hires of a similar magnitude to that of Sanders.

Last season, following Lincoln Riley’s decision to leave the Oklahoma Sooners behind and head for USC, the Trojan’s spring game was aired in the same timeslot on ESPN which accounted for 287,000 viewers, just over half of what Sanders was able to generate.

While coach Prime is not only a captivating figure for fans and players to rally behind, he’s also an incredibly established businessman that saw the opportunity to move to a power five school after spending the past few two at Jackson State.

Colorado continues to be one of the gems of the Pac-12 Conference, and with many eyes glued to what Sanders can do this year, I wouldn’t bet on this being the last headline about the University of Colorado you see this season.
