Top 100 WR Zion Kearney Commits to Oklahoma

New Oklahoma wide receivers coach Emmett Jones has earned his second commitment in the last week-plus. Four-star pass catcher Zion Kearney committed to the Sooners Thursday, he announced.
“I fell in love with the culture of the winning tradition that OU has,” Kearney told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “They were big on family which played a major role in my recruiting. Coach Jones, coach Lebby, and coach Venables showed love and really recruited me hard from day 1. Lebby and Jones showed me exactly how they will use my skill set as well to develop me to be utilized better in their offense. The last factor was making sure my family can come out and watch me play with no complications.”
Out of Missouri City (Texas) Hightower, Kearney is the country’s No. 58 player, No. 11 wide out and No. 11 player in the Lone Star State, with a four-star and 94.26 rating, according to On3’s Industry Rankings.
On3 also ranks him highest out of any of the four major recruiting services. Per the network, he’s the nation’s No. 68 overall prospect, No. 10 wide receiver and No. 15 player in the Lone Star State, with a four-star and 94 rating.
He becomes the highest-ranked recruit in Oklahoma’s 2024 class, which ranks 15th nationally, per On3. Kearney joins four-star safety Jaydan Hardy, four-star cornerback Jeremiah Newcombe, four-star quarterback Michael Hawkins, three-star offensive tackle Isaiah Autry and three-star wide receiver Kelly Daniels as commits in the haul.
