DeMarvion Overshown Selected No. 90 by Dallas Cowboys in NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys tabbed an intriguing prospect from just a couple hours south for their third round selection. They grabbed former Texas Longhorns linebacker DeMarvion Overshown with the No. 90 pick, 27th in the third Friday evening in Kansas City.
He’s the second Longhorn to be selected, joining running back Bijan Robinson, who was picked with the No. 8 overall choice Thursday night.
And Overshown goes ahead of where NFL.com Analyst Lance Zierlein anticipated.
“Former safety turned linebacker who has slowly but surely improved his feet and recognition over the last three seasons,” said the expert. “Whether playing inside or outside, Overshown will need to get stronger and more effective at taking on blockers and tackling with security. His tape shows much improved key reading and play recognition, which could prove critical in allowing him to play at a consistently faster pace to the football.
“Overshown could struggle to hold up to downhill running attacks, but his instincts and blitz talent create a potential opportunity for him as a nickel/dime linebacker.”
Throughout his Longhorns career, Overshown racked up 249 total tackles, including 30.5 stops for loss and nine sacks. That included career-highs of 96, 10 and four in his final season, respectively.
