Oklahoma State-Texas Tech Softball Opener Moved Back

Texas Tech is hosting No. 8 Oklahoma State for a three-game set this weekend, but we’ll have to wait for the start of it. With inclement weather making its way towards the Lubbock area, the series opener has been postponed and pushed back a day.

First pitch for game one is now set for 12 p.m. CT Saturday, with game two of a doubleheader following approximately 30 minutes after its conclusion.

Game three will then take place at 12 p.m. CT, as regularly scheduled.

Fans with tickets to the original Friday night opener can use them to enter both games of the Saturday double-dip. Radio and TV designations stay the same throughout the series.

It’s a critical series especially for Oklahoma State, who has now lost five in a row after sitting in the Top 3 nationally for the first two-plus months of the season. The Cowgirls were just swept out of Austin by Texas, even though they held no-hitters into the seventh inning in two of the three contests. Those three defeats, the first two in walk-off fashion, came on the heels of two other extra inning losses, as Oklahoma State lost four straight in the final inning. Now its Super Regional hosting hopes are very much in peril.

Texas Tech, meanwhile, is hoping to grab some momentum heading into the Big 12 Tournament, where it could make a push for postseason play. It dropped two of three last weekend at Kansas, but has challenged some of the better opponents in the league. The Red Raiders currently sit at 30-19 and 4-11 in the Big 12.
