West Virginia Men’s Basketball 2023-24 Offseason Roster Tracker

NCAA Basketball: Stony Brook at West Virginia

The West Virginia Mountaineers are working on assembling their 2023-24 men’s basketball roster and we’ll track every move here throughout the offseason.


G Erik Stevenson: The guard led the Mountaineers with 15.4 points per game. It was his final season of college eligibility.


F Emmitt Matthews Jr.: Matthews transferred back to the Mountaineers before last season and played his final college season, averaging 10.2 points.   

G Kedrian Johnson: The former junior college transfer played his final season for the Mountaineers and averaged 11.7 points and 3.8 assists.

F Jamel King: The Mountaineer opted to transfer to Kennesaw State after two seasons with WVU.

G Josiah Davis: The guard announced he would transfer to Tennessee Tech on April 24.

In the Portal

F Jimmy Bell Jr.: The forward announced in late April that he was entering the transfer portal. He spent the spring practicing with the West Virginia football team. He has one season of eligibility left.

Arrivals Via Transfer

G RaeQuan Battle: The Montana State guard announced that he would transfer to West Virginia on April 26. He averaged 17.7 points and 2.9 rebounds last season, earning First Team All-Big Sky honors.

G Kerr Kriisa: The former Arizona guard announced he would transfer to West Virginia and signed last month. He averaged 10 points per game last season for the Wildcats.


C Jesse Edwards: The former Syracuse star announced that he would transfer to West Virginia last month. He averaged a double-double of 14.5 points and 10.3 rebounds, to go along with an ACC-leading 2.9 blocks per game, this past season.

F Jose Perez: The former Manhattan star transferred to WVU right after last season began and was unable to attain a waiver to play. He will play in 2023-24. With Manhattan in 2021-22 he averaged averaged 18.9 points and 4.5 rebounds for the Jaspers.

G Omar Silverio: Also from Manhattan, Silverio transferred to the Mountaineers in March and may need a waiver to play next season. With the Jaspers in 2021-22 he averaged 10.9 points and 3.3 rebounds.

Expected to Return

G Joe Toussaint: He announced on April 7 that he would use his COVID-19 waiver to play for the Mountaineers next season. He averaged 9.4 points per game off the bench.

F Josiah Harris: Harris barely played as a freshman last season but returns with three years of eligibility.  

G Kobe Johnson: Johnson started to gather some playing time with the Mountaineers as a backup guard last season.


F Tre Mitchell: Mitchell returns for a second year with WVU after averaging 11.7 points and a team-leading 5.5 rebounds last season. He is using his COVID waiver to return.  

F James Okonkwo: Okonkwo found a role during Big 12 play as a backup forward and shot-blocker. He averaged nearly one block per game.

F Patrick Suemnick: The sophomore transfer from Triton College played little last season but gives the Mountaineers more depth in the frontcourt.

F Mohamed Wague: Like Okonkwo, Wague found a role coming off the bench to give the Mountaineers a defensive presence in the paint.

G Seth Wilson: Wilson found some playing time off the bench last season and has the talent to find a bigger role next season.

Class of 2023 Recruits

As of this time, the Mountaineers have no incoming prep recruits for the 2023-24 season.
