No Current Big 12 Football Team Cracks Top 10 in Outgoing Transfers

NCAA Football: Baylor at Texas Tech

The transfer portal has been one of the biggest stories in college football since it opened, and that will likely continue to be the case as it evolves alongside Name, Image, and Likeness.

The two entities go hand-in-hand and have created something of a free agency in college football, causing players from all over the country to flock to destination universities like Miami, USC, and Texas A&M.

The 2022-23 transfer portal cycle has been quite difficult to follow if you are a college football fan, but in reality, it appears the Big 12 doesn’t have it all that bad.

According to a report from On3, not a single school in the Big 12 cracked the top 10 for outgoing transfers in this cycle.

Take a look at the list, courtesy of On3.

  1. Colorado – 56
  2. Ole Miss – 33
  3. Texas A&M/Oregon – 31
  4. Arizona State – 30
  5. Arkansas – 29
  6. Florida – 26
  7. Louisville/Cal/Nebraska – 25
  8. Arizona – 24
  9. Miami/Florida State/Mississippi St/Cincinnati/Washington St – 23
  10. Maryland/Missouri/Houston/Purdue – 22

Two of the newcomers made the list with Cincinnati tied for ninth with 23 outgoing transfers and Houston, who was tied for 10th, with 22.

Despite all the chaos and reports of calamity at places like Oklahoma State and Oklahoma, there appears to be some incredible stability in the conference right now, even at the roster level.

The same can’t be said about the SEC or Pac-12 who had six schools each on the list
