Former K-State DE Wyatt Hubert Attends Chiefs Rookie Minicamp

NCAA Football: Kansas State at Texas Christian

With NFL teams quickly finding themselves in the middle of rookie minicamps, the Kansas City Chiefs have announced another local name that will be joining the group of rookies in attendance, Kansas State defensive end Wyatt Hubert.

Hubert was a former 7th-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2021 NFL Draft but after a season-ending injury prior to his rookie season, Hubert would go on to retire from football. After taking the past two seasons off to recover, Hubert is back in action and hoping to revamp his NFL career.

Hubert joins two other K-State players in attendance with first-round selection DE Felix Anudike Uzomah and CB Ekow Boye-Dow headed to St. Joseph as well. Hubert hasn’t seen the field in the past few seasons but happened to be a very productive pass rusher at K-State.

During his time in Manhattan, Hubert had 20 sacks, 33 TFL, 94 total tackles, and three forced fumbles. While it may be a challenge for Hubert to shine in a field that features over 75 rookies and 11 defensive linemen, Hubert steps onto the field in St. Joseph in a familiar environment, just two hours from where he grew up.

Chiefs rookie minicamp takes place on Saturday, May 6th, and goes through Monday, May 8th where Hubert and the rest of the rookies should have a chance to showcase their talent.
