Three-Star OL Dontrell Holt Commits to Iowa State

The Iowa State Cyclones just landed a major three-star prospect in offensive lineman Dontrell Holt. The Joplin Missouri native elected to join the Cyclones instead of joining Kansas State Wildcats after a long recruitment process from both schools.
The 6-foot-5, 285-pound tackle announced his decision on Twitter, Saturday afternoon to join Matt Campbell’s squad that’s been in desperate need of some help on the o-line.
Holt is listed as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, the 759th-ranked player in the nation, the 63rd-ranked o-lineman in the country, and the 11th-ranked player in the state of Missouri.
While this decision boiled down to K-State and Iowa State, Holt spoke candidly about his time in Ames to Cyclone Alert detailing his excitement to tour the campus and bring his family with him.
“My favorite part was probably being able to sit in the film room with the whole O-line room and go over some film. That was with the players and Coach Clanton.”
Holt then mentioned that he was able to take his mom with him on the overnight visit to Ames so that she could get a good feel for the campus of her son’s choosing. With Holt set to wear red and gold in Ames, Matt Campbell and the rest of the coaching staff should be thrilled with the addition.
