Former Baylor WR Jaylen Ellis Flips Transfer Commitment from West Virginia to Colorado
While the story of the offseason so far has been the sheer number of players leaving Colorado in the transfer portal, head coach Deion Sanders still does have a massive influence over the college football landscape.
Sanders and the Buffs just landed a commitment from Jaylen Ellis, a three-star receiver who played for the Baylor Bears in the 2022 season, before announcing his decision to enter the transfer portal. Ellis decided that he would commit to West Virginia and Neal Brown for his next year of eligibility but after weighing his options, Ellis flipped his commitment to Colorado.
Ellis originally had Morgantown on his mind, but with the opportunity to head to Boulder sitting right in front of him, Colorado did enough to flip the script.
The Texas native didn’t see the field much for the Bears but when he did, big plays would follow. Ellis had three receptions for 154 yards in 2022, averaging a whopping 51.3 yards per reception. His three catches on the year went for 57, 50, and a 47-yard touchdown against Texas.
As previously mentioned, Colorado’s roster has multiple open spots after a record number of players entered the transfer portal this offseason leaving a wide-open opportunity for Ellis. He now gets a chance to be a featured member of Deion Sanders’ offense for the next two seasons, and if he wants to make a name for himself, Colorado is a prime landing spot.
