Detroit Lions Sign K-State QB Adrian Martinez as UDFA

Former Nebraska Cornhusker turned Kansas State Wildcat, Adrian Martinez was signed to a deal as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions.

Martinez had some productive moments in the 2022 season, but after going down with a knee injury against Iowa State, junior quarterback Will Howard stepped in and performed well, leading the Wildcats for the rest of the season.

Martinez started the first half of the season at K-State with his best performance coming against the 6th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners where he totaled 382 all-purpose yards and five total touchdowns, four of which came on the ground.

Adrian Martinez had one of the best passer ratings of his career in Manhattan with a passer rating of 131.4, 1264 passing yards, and a touchdown to interception ratio of six to one. Martinez catches on with the Lions and joins UDFA cornerback, AJ Parker in Detroit who logged serious minutes and even started multiple games for the Lions last season.

The Lions are one of the fast-climbing teams in the NFL under head coach Dan Campbell, and while Adrian Martinez is getting an opportunity with the team, the Lions have their quarterback room mostly figured out barring a major change.
