247Sports Names Texas Football ‘Most Dangerous Team’ in 2023

NCAA Football: Texas at Baylor

The Texas Longhorns earned the top spot on 247SportsTop 10 list of the most dangerous college football teams of 2023.

The Longhorns have been one of the most talked about teams in the country this offseason thanks to a combination of high-profile incoming freshmen like Arch Manning, a returning QB projected to be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft, and an experienced coach like Steve Sarkisian.

247’s Brad Crawford spoke about the Longhorns and what makes them dangerous saying, “Texas will be in the playoff, according to 247Sports’ way-too-early bowl projections. This team has one of the nation’s most-equipped rosters in getting through the Big 12 and finishing inside the top four, regardless of what happens at Alabama in Week 2. It would certainly help if the Longhorns find a way to win that one. With several members of an elite 2023 signing class ready to play early and playmakers everywhere on offense, Texas is primed to be one of the teams in the conversation all season long.”

While fans have been able to set their clocks by the early preseason hype that Texas receives each season, this year feels like another step up. Between fans coming after Arch Manning for his abysmal performance in the Longhorns spring game, former Ohio State HC Urban Meyer saying that Texas has, “the best roster in football,” and the Longhorns’ highly anticipated move to the SEC, all eyes have been on the orange and white this offseason.

The only other Big 12 Conference member to crack the top 10 list of most dangerous teams in the country are the Kansas State Wildcats who checked in at 7th place.

The Texas Longhorns kick their season off on September 2nd against Rice, and while the season continues to creep closer, I find it hard to believe that Texas’ hype train will stop rolling.
