Oklahoma Beats Hofstra 11-0 in Game 1 of the Norman Regional

The Oklahoma Sooners proved to be too much for Hofstra on Friday night, taking down the Pride 11-0 to advance to the winners’ bracket on Saturday.

Patty Gasso’s squad was dominant from the first pitch, as they have been for much of the season, and started off their tournament run with a bang.

Oklahoma got the scoring started with a single from the MVP of the Big 12 Tournament, Haley Lee, in the bottom of the first, before senior Grace Lyons went yard in the second inning, putting the Sooners up 3-0.

The Sooners came into Friday’s game as the best team in the country, capable of blowing out every team in the nation, and that narrative continued against Hofstra. The Sooners dominated the Pride in Friday’s matchup, thanks to a combination of the best pitching, fielding, and hitting in the country.

The hits continued to stack up for Oklahoma as six of the nine batters batters in the lineup earned hits, including Jayda Coleman and Grace Lyons, who both hit massive homeruns in the Sooners’ victory. The team as a whole batted a whopping .480 batting average on the day going (12-25) in the box.

While the Sooners would have beaten just about anyone in the country in their first-round matchup, the Hofstra Pride were heavily outmatched, and just could not catch a break. Hofstra ended the day with just one hit (1-16) batting an abysmal .063 batting average.

Oklahoma awaits the winner of Cal and Missouri, with the winner taking on the Sooners Saturday at 2:00 p.m. CT, and the loser facing elimination against Hofstra at 4:30.
