Baker Mayfield Leads 19 Big 12 QB’s on List of Top 75 Quarterbacks From the 2000’s

NCAA Football: Texas Christian at Oklahoma

The Big 12 Conference is responsible for some of the best quarterback talents of all time, and on ESPN’s list ranking the top 75 quarterbacks since 2000, that narrative continued.

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield topped the list at the No. 1 spot after a college career that included a Heisman Trophy, 3x First-Team All Big 12 and a trip to the College Football Playoff. He was joined by a cast of 18 other quarterbacks from the Big 12 Conference mixed throughout the top 75.

While Mayfield headlines the list for the Big 12 Conference, he is joined by Texas QB Vince Young (3rd), who was the only Big 12 player on the list to win a National Championship. Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray (7th) and Baylor QB Robert Griffin III (10th) also ranked in the top 10. Just outside of the top ten is another Texas QB Colt McCoy (12th), and a pair of Oklahoma quarterbacks in Sam Bradford (15th) and Jalen Hurts (25th).

The next group of names start with one of college football’s most exciting players, West Virginia QB Pat White (27th), followed by Oklahoma’s Jason White (32nd), and Texas Tech’s Graham Harrell (34th). The next three on the list are Oklahoma’s Landry Jones (38th), K-State’s Collin Klein (41st), and Mason Rudolph (56th) from Oklahoma State.

The last 25 spots on ESPN’s list are headlined by a two-time super bowl champion, Texas Tech’s Patrick Mahomes (57th). Following Mahomes is Kansas QB Todd Reesing (58th), then a pair of TCU quarterbacks, Max Duggan (62nd) and Andy Dalton (64th). The final two names are two of the Conference’s most beloved players with West Virginia’s Geno Smith (70th), and Oklahoma State’s Brandon Weeden (71st).

The Big 12 Conference continues to have some of the top quarterback play in college football, and with a cast of new quarterbacks continuing to elevate their game, the conference is in good hands.
