Three-Star SG Jason Jackson Decommits from Texas Tech
While new head coach Grant McCasland has been thrown into the starting job at Texas Tech right at the start of the offseason, recruiting is a battle that even when you’re winning, it’s easy to find setbacks.
The Red Raiders missed out on three-star shooting guard Jason Jackson after he decommitted from Tech due to “coaching staff issues.”
Jackson committed to the Red Raiders back in November of 2022 to play under former head coach Mark Adams, but after news broke of Adams’ interactions with players and some poor vocabulary choices the Red Raiders found themselves with a coaching vacancy.
While in some cases, players from previous regimes will remain committed to their original university, more often than not, players will elect to either decommit or enter the transfer portal in light of coaching issues.
Jackson elected to reopen his commitment after being let out of his letter of intent and hits the market as a three-star prospect by 247Sports. He also checks in as the 136th-ranked player in the nation, the 25th-ranked shooting guard in the country, and the 12th-ranked player in the state of Florida.
