Big 12 Announces Football Early Season Kickoff Times and Special Game Network Selections

NCAA Football: Texas Christian at Baylor

The Big 12, along with its TV partners ESPN and FOX Sports, have announced early season and special date football network selections on both linear and digital platforms, according to a conference press release. The 2023 season will mark the lone year in Big 12 history that the conference is made of 14 teams, with BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston joining the league on July 1.

The historic season will kick off on Thursday, August 31 as UCF hosts Kent State on FS1 and Kansas welcomes Missouri State for a matchup on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. The rest of the league will begin their seasons on Saturday, September 2, highlighted by TCU hosting Colorado, which will be the site for FOX’s first Big Noon Kickoff of the 2023 season.

Additionally, West Virginia will head to Penn State for a primetime 6:30 p.m. kick on NBC.

In Week 2, the Big 12 will feature another full slate of games, with several intriguing matchups. ESPN will carry Utah at Baylor as well as Texas at Alabama, while FOX will feature the Iowa at Iowa State rivalry along with Oregon at Texas Tech.

The first conference game of the season will be in Week 3, when TCU heads to Houston for a 7:00 p.m. CT kick on FOX.

The Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship will return to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Saturday, December 2 with an 11:00 a.m. kickoff on ABC.

The remainder of the Big 12 television selections will be announced on a 12-day or six-day notice via Big12Sports.com and the Conference’s official digital platforms.
