2025 Four-Star QB KJ Lacey Commits to Texas

NCAA Football: Texas at Texas Tech

The Texas Longhorns brought in a new quarterback prospect in the class of 2025 with the addition of four-star quarterback KJ Lacey.

Lacey joins the Longhorns after receiving offers from a whopping 29 schools including Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Miami, Auburn, and Colorado.

Lacey is graded as a four-star prospect from the 247Sports index and currently ranks as the 70th-best player in the class of 2025. He also checks in as the 5th-ranked quarterback in the nation and the eighth-ranked player in the state of Alabama.

In his sophomore year of high school, Lacey led Saraland High to the Alabama 6A state championship game where his squad took down the Mountain Brook Spartans 38-17. Lacey appeared in 15 games as a sophomore and completed 200 of 314 pass attempts (63.7%) for 3,177 yards with a touchdown to interception ratio of 40-5. While the Alabama native is known for having a big arm and being comfortable in the pocket, he also added some explosive plays on the ground adding five rushing scores on the season.

The Longhorns will have one of the best rosters in college football for the foreseeable future, and with another top-tier quarterback committing to wearing the orange and white, Texas is in a good spot for the future.
