Alisa Williams of LSU to Transfer to Iowa State Basketball

Alisa Williams, who was part of LSU’s run to a national title in April, will transfer to Iowa State’s women’s basketball for the 2023-24 season.

Williams announced her transfer on social media on Tuesday.

Williams, a 6-foot-2 forward, played just one season for LSU as a freshman, averaging 0.9 points per game behind a front line that included Final Four Most Outstanding Player Angel Reese and Sa’Myah Smith, who was SEC All-Freshman. Both are returning next season.

Iowa State is getting a player that has great potential to help them next season in an area of need, after the departures of forwards Ashley Joens, Stephanie Soares and Morgan Kane.

While at Braswell High School in Denton, Texas, she earned Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 5A All-State Team selection.

It’s been an offseason of high turnover for the program. Along with losing Joens, Soares and Kane, four other Cyclones opted to transfer out — guard Lexi Donarski (North Carolina), guard Denae Fritz (Baylor), guard Maggie Espenmiller-McGraw (Montana) and forward Maggie Vick (Pepperdine).

Along with Williams, the Cyclones have taken in Division II transfer guard Hannah Belanger (Truman State) and forward Isnelle Natabou (Sacramento State).

The Cyclones also have one of the best recruiting classes in program history coming in this fall. That includes forward Addy Brown, 6-foot-2 (Derby, Kan.); forward Jalynn Bristow, 6-3, Rider (Wichita Falls, TX); forward Audi Crooks, 6-3, Bishop Carrigan (Algona, Iowa); guard Arianna Jackson, 5-8, Roosevelt (Des Moines, Iowa); and G Kelsey Joens, 5-9 (Iowa City, Iowa).
