2024 Four-Star Safety Damani Maxson Commits to Kansas

NCAA Football: Texas at Kansas

Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks added another big-splash player in the class of 2024 with the commitment of four-star safety Damani Maxson.

While the Jayhawks haven’t been known for consistently bringing in top recruits, Kansas beat out a whopping 22 different schools for Maxson including Georgia, LSU, Michigan State, USC, Houston, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia.

Maxson is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index as well as 424th-ranked player in the class of 2024. He also checks in as the 40th-ranked safety in the nation, and the 71st-ranked prospect in the state of Texas.

With Damani Maxson headed to Lawrence in the class of 2024, the Jayhawks now own the 32nd-best recruitment class in the nation. The Jayhawks’ top four recruits in the 2024 class have all announced their commitment to Kansas in the last week of recruitment with four-star cornerback Austin Alexander starting the trend on June 12th, followed by three-star RB Harry Stewart and three-star CB Jalen Todd who joined in the following days.

Maxson becomes the Jayhawks’ second-best recruit in the class of 2024, cementing Leipold’s ability to have success on the recruiting front. Kansas kicks their season off on September 1st against Missouri State which is the first test of the season for Leipold and co.
