Oklahoma 2023 Four-Star DL Derrick LeBlanc Transfers to UCF

Last week, one of Oklahoma’s biggest commitments in the class of 2023, four-star DL Derrick LeBlanc, shocked the recruiting world by entering the transfer portal just six months after arriving on campus.

On Monday, LeBlanc announced he planned to enter his name in the transfer portal after spending just one semester in Norman, due to “hardships back home” in Kissimmee, Florida.

Now, exactly one week after entering the portal, LeBlanc has announced that he will be staying in the Big 12, as he has committed to Gus Malzahn and the UCF Knights.

Listed as the No. 34 overall defensive lineman in the 2023 class according to 247Sports, LeBlanc figures to be a mainstay along the Knights’ defensive front for the foreseeable future.

Landing a former four-star defensive lineman is always a good thing, but when they come from an opponent on your 2023 schedule, it’s that much sweeter.

Around a week before LeBlanc exited the program, OU brought in transfer defensive linemen  Da’Jon Terry and Phillip Paea to bolster it’s depth up front, which could’ve played a role in LeBlanc’s decision.

UCF will travel to Norman to face Oklahoma on October 21, but LeBlanc will need to secure a waiver from the NCAA to play against his former team in 2023, due to him entering the transfer portal outside of the transfer window.

Either way, LeBlanc’s addition to the Knights’ roster is a big one and could be impactful for years to come.
