Three-Star ATH Deyon Batiste Commits to Iowa State

NCAA Football: Iowa State at West Virginia

The Iowa State Cyclones added a new name to the class of incoming 2024 freshmen with the commitment of three-star ATH, Deyon Batiste.

While Batiste wasn’t the most recruited prospect in the Cyclones class, Iowa State was the first team to offer the Texas native back in May of 2022, and after receiving offers from Army, Stetson, and Texas State, Batiste elected to commit to Iowa State and team up with head coach Matt Campbell.

Batiste is listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index as well as the nation’s 1274th-ranked player in the class of 2024. He also checks in as the 135th-ranked athlete in the nation and the 159th-ranked prospect in the state of Texas.

Deyon Batiste took snaps at the quarterback position in 2022 as a Júnior, throwing for 787 yards, four scores, and eight interceptions on 43.5% passing. He also added one rushing touchdown, and while he heads to Ames under the role of a generic athlete, reps at quarterback can be a great starting point for a player making a position change.

While Batiste won’t be able to step onto the field with the Cyclones until 2024, Iowa State kicks their 2023 season off on September 2nd against UNI in hopes of rebounding from the previous 4-8 season.
