After hosting several of the top 2024 recruits in the country, Oklahoma has landed its first post-ChampUBBQ commitment in four-star linebacker James Nesta.
Nesta is listed at 6-5, 205 pounds out of William Amos Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina, and is ranked as the No. 19 linebacker in the country, according to On3.
The Sooners newest commit held offers from programs like Tennessee, USC, Miami, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech, but ultimately chose to play for Brent Venables and Oklahoma.
“What stood out most to me about Oklahoma was how every detail matters to them in their program,” Nesta told On3. “It all contributes to being a championship team.”
Nesta’s addition to the Sooners’ 2024 class gives them eight total commits for the class, moving them up to No. 16 in the nation, according to On3.
With several more big names potentially on the board for the Sooners over the coming weeks, Nesta could be the first domino to fall in a cascade of good news for Oklahoma fans.
