2024 Four-Star CB Hunter Moddon Decommits from Texas

NCAA Football: Alabama at Texas

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns lost a key piece of their 2024 recruiting class on Thursday as four-star cornerback Hunter Moddon announced that has decommitted from UT and reopened his recruitment.

Moddon, listed at 6-0, 170 pounds out of Houston (TX), has been committed to the Longhorns since September 2, 2022. He chose Texas over LSU, TCU, Ole Miss, Georgia, Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Arizona State, and Washington.

Ranking as the No. 107 overall prospect in the 2024 class, Moddon is considered the No. 15 CB and No. 21 prospect out of the state of Texas this cycle, meaning that he will likely have plenty of suitors now that his services are back on the market.

At the time of his decommitment, Moddon was Texas’ highest-ranked commitment of the 2024 class, followed by four-star wide receiver Freddie Dubose Jr., who ranks as the No. 183 player in the nation.

With his exit, Texas now has just six commitments for the 2024 class, which ranks 49th nationally according to On3. However, it’s not time to panic if you’re a Longhorns’ fan. There is still a long time before national signing day, and there’s no reason to believe that Texas won’t climb well into the top 10 rankings in 2024 before all is said and done.
