Watch: Four-Star RB Jerrick Gibson Commits to Texas in Front of Texas Staff

NCAA Football: Texas at Texas Tech

In one of the best commitment announcements of the year so far, 2024 four-star running back Jerrick Gibson announced his commitment to Texas in front of Steve Sarkisian and his staff on his official campus visit.

Gibson chose the Longhorns over 22 other teams recruiting him including Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Miami, Florida, Tennessee, USC, and more, prompting a huge reaction from the Texas staff in attendance.

Gibson is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and is one of the top recruits in the nation, checking in as the 39th-ranked prospect in the class of 2024. He is also graded as the second-ranked player at the running back position, and the sixth-ranked prospect in the state of Florida.

With his commitment, the Florida native now becomes the top player in the Longhorns 2024 class joining four-star players like wide receiver Freddie Dubose, cornerback Santana Wilson, running back Christian Clark, and a pair of three-star players in quarterback Trey Owens and punter Michael Kern.

The commitment moves the Longhorns’ 2024 class into 55th in the nation, since UT only has six total commitments, but with Texas bringing in the third-ranked class in 2023, it’s safe to say Steve Sarkisian and company will bring in some more top players in 2024 to surround Jerrick Gibson.
