Three-Star OL Ronnell “Snacks” McLain Commits to Houston

The Houston Cougars just added a new prospect to the incoming freshmen class of 2024 with the commitment of three-star offensive lineman, Ronnell “Snacks” McLain.

On top of having one of the best nicknames in college football, McLain received offers from nine different schools and choose Dana Holgorsen and the Cougars over the likes of North Texas, Arkansas State, Texas State, UTSA, and more.

McLean is listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and currently ranks as the nation’s 1,336th-overall recruit in the class of 2024. He also checks in as the 103rd-ranked offensive lineman in the country and the 164th-best player in the state of Texas.

Ronnell McLean joins an offensive line group at Houston that was a middle-of-the-pack group last season in the AAC. Following an official move to the Big 12 Conference on July 1st, the Houston Cougars will officially take part in Big 12 football in the 2023-2024 season. McLean has an opportunity to step into a Houston program in its second year of Big 12 play and help add some much needed depth, consistency, and reliability to Eman Naghavi’s offensive line.

Naghavi joined the team back on January 28th to take over the title of co-offensive coordinator, run game coordinator, and offensive line coach, and with a new o-line prospect headed to Houston in 2024, the Cougars are boosting the future upside of one of their younger position groups.
