Former Oklahoma, USC Cornerback Latrell McCutchin Transfers to Houston

The Houston Cougars picked up a huge piece in the transfer portal on Tuesday after former Oklahoma and USC cornerback Latrell McCutchin decided to take his talents back to the Big 12 Conference.

The Texas native returns home after two years at USC and one at Oklahoma. He followed head coach Lincoln Riley out west prior to the 2022 season. Coming out of high school, he was a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports, and picked OU over Alabama, Arkansas and several others.

McCutchin recorded 22 tackles, including a sack, as well as a forced and recovered fumble during 14 games in 2022 for the Trojans. He started one game for USC in 2022 and once for Oklahoma as a true freshman in 2021. McCutchin was four-star recruit from Austin LBJ who helped the Jaguars reach a state championship game as a senior.

McCutchin will compete with Alex Hogan, Isaiah Hamilton, and Jalen Emery for playing time at cornerback or nickel.

Houston is set to officially join the Big 12 Conference on Saturday, July 1st, and will open the 2023 college football season on September 2nd against UTSA. Their Big 12 opener comes two weeks later when the Cougars take on the TCU Horned Frogs on September 16th.
