The Texas Tech Red Raiders just landed a new prospect in the class of 2024 with the commitment of three-star safety Ashton Hampton.
Hampton joins Joey McGuire’s squad after receiving offers from 21 different universities including schools like Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Florida State, Clemson, West Virginia, and more.
Hampton is listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and currently ranks as the nation’s 661st-overall prospect. He also checks in as the 67th-ranked safety in the country and the 96th-ranked player in the state of Florida.
While recruiting battles against Alabama’s Nick Saban, Clemson’s Dabo Sweeny, and LSU’s Brian Kelly aren’t easy ones to find yourself in the middle of, Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire beat out some incredible coaches and programs in landing Ashton Hampton.
Hampton becomes the 14th commitment of the 2024 class for Texas Tech which ranks first in the Big 12 Conference and 31st in the nation. Hampton joins four-star players like DE Cheta Ofili, OT Ellis Davis, QB Will Hammond, WR Tyson Turner, and a cast of 10 other three-star prospects in Lubbock.
Ashton Hampton and the rest of the 2024 class will have an opportunity to watch their new team play on September 2nd when Joey McGuire and Texas Tech take the field for the first game of the season against Wyoming at 6:30 PM CST.
