Texas Basketball Lands UCF Transfer G Ithiel Horton
UCF graduate transfer guard Ithiel Horton has committed to play for Rodney Terry and the Texas Longhorns in 2023-24, according to a report from On3’s Joe Tipton.
Horton, listed at 6-5, 200 pounds, averaged 12.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game this past season in Orlando. The former Knight began his college career at Delaware before transferring to Pittsburgh, where he spent two seasons.
Now, after spending one season at UCF, Horton will use his final year of eligibility in Austin, playing for the Longhorns.
According to Tipton, Horton was scheduled to take a visit to Kansas on Thursday but canceled his trip to Lawrence after committing to Texas on his visit to Austin.
Horton brings valuable experience and the ability to score to the Longhorns’ roster, which has already added five-star transfer G Max Abmas and four-star C Kadin Shedrick, as well as F Ze’rik Onyema and G Chendall Weaver.
The Longhorns are retooling for another run in 2023-24 after advancing to the Elite Eight in Terry’s first season as head coach.
With Dylan Disu, Dillon Mitchell, Brock Cunningham, Tyrese Hunter, and Alex Anamekwe all returning as well, the Longhorns look to be a force again this season after winning the Big 12 Tournament last year.
