While the states of Kansas and Missouri are known for producing some big-name athletes at the college and professional levels, neither state has been able to claim the illustrious top spot in high school industry rankings.
2024 defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri, a native of Lee’s Summit Missouri, made history when he officially claimed the top spot in the class of 2024, courtesy of the On3 industry rankings. Nwaneri is currently being pursued by just about everyone in the country but has primarily expressed interest in joining the Oklahoma Sooners in 2024.
Williams Nwaneri is currently ranked five star plus prospect by the On3 industry rankings and currently ranks as the top player in the class of 2024, the top DL in his class, and checks in as the top player in Missouri. With multiple different ranking systems in use for high school recruiting, the lowest Nwaneri finds himself ranked by a major network is 12th by ESPN. He currently ranks third by the 247Sports index behind Georgia QB commit Dylan Raiola and WR Jeremiah Smith.
The On3 crystal ball prediction currently has Nwaneri listed with a 79.6% chance to team up with Brent Venables in Norman as the Sooners are one of five teams that he has taken an official visit to (Oklahoma, Tennessee, Missouri, Oregon, Georgia).
Whether Nwaneri ends up heading to Oklahoma or not, his recruitment is one that could change an entire defensive unit in just one season alone and should go down in any universities history book.
