Four-Star Kansas Commit Marcus Adams Jr Requests NLI Release

The Kansas Jayhawks just saw another commit in the class of 2023 request release from a letter of intent with four-star forward Marcus Adams Jr. re-opening his recruitment.

Adams announced on Twitter that he would be decommitting from the Jayhawks and re-opening his recruitment following in the footsteps of four-star guard Chris Johnson who elected to do the same earlier this offseason.

Adams is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and currently ranks as the nation’s 48th-overall prospect. He also checks in as the eighth small forward in the class of 2024 and the 11th-ranked player in the state of California.

The loss of Adams would be a big one for the Jayhawks as two of the incoming freshman in the class of 2023 have requested release from their NLI and reopened their recruitment. With Adams hitting the open market he would become the top uncommitted recruit in the class of 2023.

The 6-foot-8 prospect from California enrolled at Kansas in June and just one month after making it to Lawrence, Adams is looking for something different. With both Adams and Johnson electing to request release from their letters of intent, the Jayhawks freshman class is down to two players in five-star guard Elmarko Jackson and four-star guard Jamari McDowell.
