Oklahoma Lands 2024 Four-Star OL Eugene Brooks
Oklahoma got some good news on Tuesday morning as 2024 four-star offensive lineman Eugene Brooks chose the Sooners as his destination for the next three to four years.
Brooks, listed at 6-foot-3, 325 pounds, is the No. 12 interior offensive lineman in the country out of Chatsworth (CA), according to Rivals.com, and was a priority target for Oklahoma offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh.
The Sooners earned Brooks’ commitment over a host of other offers, but in the end, it came down to the teams on either side of the Red River: Oklahoma and Texas.
“They were recruiting me the hardest,” Brooks said of OU. “They were showing a lot of love. I was talking to coach Bedenbaugh every day and it was that time to where I knew this was home.”
The Sooners have now picked up five commitments in the month of July, moving them up to No. 17 nationally, and first in the Big 12, for the Class of 2024.
Oklahoma is still in the mix for several top tier prospects in this cycle, including five-star DL David Stone, five-star DE Williams Nwaneri, four-star RB Caden Durham, and four-star DL Nigel Smith among others.
Look for the Sooners to make another late-summer surge up the rankings, just as we saw them do last season en route to a top-five finish in 2023.
