Watch: Charlotte HC Goes Viral For Storming Out of AAC Media Days

AAC Media Days are well underway in Arlington (TX) this week, as the conference welcomes in six new schools ahead of the 2023 season: Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice, UAB and UTSA.

The new additions are in response to the conference’s top three programs (UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston) making the jump to the Big 12, who welcomed the trio, as well as BYU, a couple of weeks ago in Arlington as well.

With several new teams, and new faces, to get familiar with, Conference Media Days have been a fun story to follow this offseason, but AAC Media Days might have taken the cake when it comes to viral moments, thanks to Charlotte head coach Biff Poggi.

Poggi, who is entering his first season as the 49ers head coach, is quite the character. A former high school head coach and Michigan assistant, Poggi is that true one-of-one kind of personality that this sport sees from time to time.

Charlotte is coming off a 3-9 season under Will Healy, who was let go after a 1-7 start in 2022, and was picked to finish last in their inaugural season in the AAC.

When Coach Poggi got to the podium at AAC Media Days on Tuesday, he was asked just three questions before the moderator stepped in and asked if there were any more questions.

Here was Poggi’s response.

“That’s it, 3 questions,” Poggi asked. “Maybe that’s because you have us ranked last, that’s all what you think of us. So, we get that message, thank you.”

The 49ers win total heading into the 2023 season is 2.5, putting them below every other team in the American. Perhaps a fiery new head coach will be exactly what Charlotte needs to turn this thing around.
